Snake flies and general saltwater patterns
Fishing the Snake Fly: Use coloured flies for clear water, the dark ones are for coloured water. Black is traditional for night fishing, but the white can be excellent as well. The Snake fly can be fished slowly as a searching pattern along beaches and especially in rocky areas, it suspends above rocky and weedy bottoms to prevent snagging, useful when a very slow retrieve is called for. When a strike does come, it could be the fish of a lifetime! Other flies to try, a worm fly for flounders or schoolies. Maybe a black muddler as you would in freshwater, bouncing it around near the bottom as well as a half and half, a mixture of deceiver and clouser.
